A few of my students are venturing into the realm of the TV talent show. This is not an easy task. You have to stand in line for hours just to get a ticket to be allowed the privilege of singing in front of some producers who then decide if you make the cut to the next round of producers and so on until you get to actually sing for the main judges .
I have tried to tell them to have fun. Sing your song, tell the story and love what you do. Auditioning for these kinds of talent shows is a bit like trying to win the lottery; you never know what the judges might be looking for at that particular moment when it’s your turn to shine.
So for you brave souls who have decided to take this plunge, please have fun and learn as much as you can from the experience. You can learn a lot by watching other people. Not just the things they do right but also the things they do wrong. There will most likely be more auditions in your future and you always want to be as prepared as you can be.
I say go forth and sing. Someone has to win, why not you?
